High Tea Bakery is the perfect blend of polish and individuality, having become an award-winning institution in Winnipeg. Taking inspiration from the rich heritage of the English tearoom, High Tea bakery is a labour of love that prides itself on offering beautiful desserts to our clientele. 

We are growing and are currently looking for a Kitchen Manager/Head Baker to join the High Tea Bakery team. We are looking for a passionate and talented leader. Not only are they an exceptional baker, they are a problem solver, an organizer, and above all, a communicator. The Head Baker works with his/her staff to improve efficiencies daily, streamline production, and come up with new and innovative flavours and products in keeping with High Tea Bakery's classic style. 

The ideal candidate will be someone who is comfortable taking over control and operation of all aspects of the kitchen and decorating studio. This includes managing both kitchen and decorating staff and scheduling of all employees, establishing a chain of command for communication and work flow and hiring/letting go of staff as required. Additionally, the Kitchen Manager/Head Baker will develop new recipes thoroughly from test phase to full production, create kitchen standards and procedures, maintain current and accurate records of all recipes and procedures, and manage inventory, waste and quality control.

Job Duties:

•	Prepare and bake a variety of European and other styles of artisanal breads, pan breads and pastries according to our recipes or formulas;
•	Prepare doughs by hand and operate tools and equipment;
•	Ensure quality of products meets established standards in a timely and cost-effective manner, following all required levels of hygiene and safety standards;
•	Draw up and work according to a tight production schedule to determine type and quantity of goods to produce, including planning and calculating the type and quantity of goods to produce;
•	Fulfill wholesale and retail orders and front shop requirements; 
•	Train and supervise baking personnel and kitchen staff as needed, working at times independently and as part of a team; and
•	Proactively monitor ingredients and prepare orders for new supplies as necessary.

Terms of Employment:	This is a full-time, permanent position. Working hours are between 1:00 am to 12:00 pm 

Wage: 			$20.00 per hour

Skill Requirements:

•	Education
o	Completion of a college or similar program for bakers with a 3-4 year apprenticeship program as a baker; completion of a college or similar program as a master baker is considered an asset.
•	Work Experience
o	At least 5 years’ work experience working as a baker in a variety of bakery settings; work experience as a master baker is considered an asset;
o	Training and/or experience in European skills of baking, which are essential to the operation of the bakery;
o	A clean driving record, a certificate of good conduct and a good working knowledge of the English language are required;
o	Computer skills in Microsoft Office or similar are considered assets.
